MS Plates

MS Plates are high-strength, flat steel sheets used in construction, fabrication, and industrial applications. Known for their durability, impact resistance, and excellent weldability, they serve as essential components in structural frameworks, heavy machinery, and shipbuilding. Their uniform thickness and superior tensile strength make them ideal for load-bearing applications.

Product Overview

What Are MS Plates?

MS Plates (also known as Mild Steel Plates or Structural Steel Plates) are flat steel sheets manufactured from low-carbon mild steel. Namdev Infratech supplies four variants: HR (Hot Rolled) Plates for general construction (1.6mm–80mm thick, 8ft×4ft or custom); CR (Cold Rolled) Plates for precision applications with superior surface finish (0.8mm–2mm); Galvanized MS Plates with zinc coating for corrosion resistance (0.8mm–2mm); and Chequered MS Plates with anti-slip texture for flooring (2mm–10mm). All plates offer high tensile strength, excellent weldability, and are suitable for cutting and machining.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers for contractors, fabricators, and procurement teams sourcing MS Plates

What is the difference between Hot Rolled and Cold Rolled MS Plates?

Hot Rolled (HR) MS Plates are made by rolling steel at high temperature, making them suitable for general construction and structural applications. They are available in thicknesses from 1.6mm to 80mm. Cold Rolled (CR) MS Plates are processed at room temperature for a smoother surface finish and tighter dimensional tolerances, typically available from 0.8mm to 2mm, and are preferred for precision engineering applications.

Are MS Plates corrosion-resistant?

Standard HR and CR MS Plates can rust when exposed to moisture. For corrosion resistance, Namdev Infratech offers Galvanized MS Plates — coated with a protective zinc layer through hot-dip galvanizing. These are ideal for outdoor structures, marine environments, and long-term exposed applications.

Can MS Plates be customized in size and thickness?

Yes. MS Plates are available in a range of standard sizes and can be custom-cut to project specifications. HR plates come in 8ft × 4ft sheets or custom dimensions, while CR plates are available in multiple standard sheet sizes. Contact Namdev Infratech to discuss custom cutting requirements.

Where are Chequered MS Plates used?

Chequered MS Plates feature a raised diamond or teardrop pattern that provides anti-slip properties. They are commonly used for industrial flooring, staircase treads, vehicle loading platforms, bus flooring, and anywhere pedestrian or vehicle safety from slipping is a concern.
